The response to 25 Things I Want My Ranch Kids to Know, has been so overwhelmingly positive, I am not sure how to respond. I wish I had the time to write thoughtful individual response to each and every comment I have received thus far.
However, I am trying to heed my own advice. While, unplugged and present for my family, it is nearly impossible to keep up with the responses flowing in. So unfortunately, I am issuing a blanket “Thanks” to you all.
Thank you for the shares and positive support. It is encouraging to know, that my personal philosophy resonates with so many people in the ranching community and well beyond. Summer is upon us and I’ve already absconded to cow camp, so future posts may not be timely due to lack of Internet (and electricity). I do hope you will continue upon this journey with me.
Summer overtook me as well, but congrats on being Freshly Pressed! You absolutely deserved it.
Well done indeed. Your list iterates so many things my images from the (so far) two-year Plainsky, Nebraskans project have endeavored to show. While the PlainSky book and show are already set for publishing (the book arrives in print in March, 2013 as a limited edition of 100 signed and numbered copies, and will release the same time as the opening exhibition of prints at the Minden Opera House in Minden, Nebraska), it would be exciting to consider putting together a book as a team: The list itself coupled with several images and personal stories as testament to each item on the list.
If you’re interested, please drop me a note at brett@brettlerickson.com.
Oh, and you’re clearly invited to the opening for the PlainSky, Nebraskans show next April.
Best,
Brett Erickson
I’m so glad that post was Freshly Pressed because I discovered your blog from it. I look forward to your posts and have fun at Cow Camp!
Dear Rachel,
I am so glad to have found your website, as a Ranch wife, I think the things I’ve read, and live the experiences you speak of. I work along with my husband, take the cussin’s when I’m not where I should be, and beam when he looks for me to be there and I am. We build fence, fix fence,(not my favorite) ride and doctor yearlings, put out salt and mineral, and are forever exclaiming about the beautiful view, the sunset (I should have brought my camera for), and how dang big the calves are getting. Your now one of my favs and it shall be my pleasure to get to know you and your country better. Thanks for a site that reeks of (our) lifestyle. It’s not an easy one, but it sure is memorable! Great job Rachel, I really enjoy your website.
